Artistic Statement
As a director specializing in musical theatre, I’m drawn to stories that invite audiences to imagine boldly and feel deeply. I believe theatre offers a rare space for shared connection: where we gather not just to witness a story, but to experience something collectively that we can't feel anywhere else. I gravitate toward pieces that lean into humor, heart, and humanity, often using comedy as a doorway to more profound truths.         My work embraces a wide range of styles and genres, but always with a lens of intentionality and innovation. I’m committed to conscious and inclusive casting. I love to reimagine familiar works in ways that honor the story and transformation. For me, directing is about activating empathy, celebrating artistic collaboration, and creating space for stories that resonate.

“Director/choreographer Christina Ramirez deftly had the cast covering the intimate stage as if it were a huge venue. One of the highlights was the cast performing “You Gotta Get A Gimmick” from Gypsy. It is absolutely hysterical and not what you are expecting.” -  Tina St. Angelo, Broadway World

“Christina Ramirez’s direction and choreography fit nicely on this cozy stage…Sondheim’s dry wit, deep emotional quotient, and laser sharp vision into the human condition is on full display in this intimate production of “Side by Side by Sondheim,” reminding us of the power and joy of storefront theater in (or just north of) our great city.”- Sarah Frances Fiorello, PicksInSix® Review

“The cleverness of Ramirez’ direction works well.” - Alan Bresloff, Around the Town

"This play is perfectly penned, masterfully directed depicting the dreaded first date and how the use of technology may have changed the dynamics but not the nervous anxiety. " - Cate Hessel, People and Places

"Directed and choreographed by Christina Ramirez, First Date does way more than lean into the cliches of modern dating; it runs full speed in their direction and tackles them."  - Joe De Rosa, Chicago On Stage

"First Date, directed by Christina Ramirez, with a script by Austin Winsberg, slams us with all the goofs and hiccups of modern dating, which, without the bubbly, rambunctious soundtrack and good-natured buffoonery that personify our daters’ inner turmoil, might qualify as abuse and reality-TV cringe." -  Anthony Neri, Third Coast Review
